He became a Quarter Century member of the PGA in 2002. He was an Assistant Pro at Shady Oaks Country Club in Ft. Worth, Texas in the mid 70's and became Head Pro at Woodlake in 1978. John left Woodlake to become the Director of Golf and the Club Manager of Northcliffe Golf Club in 1985. In 2000 he became the Golf Operations Manager for the City of San Antonio overseeing seven municipal courses. In June of 2004, he formed a group and purchased Woodlake Golf Club and now acts as The Director of Golf and General Manager. John currently hosts a weekly radio show on KTSA (AM 550) called The South Texas Golf Show airing from 7:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. every Sunday evening.

golf_instructor.jpgDirector of Golf ,Wayne Mitchell, has been a PGA member for 24 years. Wayne turned pro in 1974 while working at Tripoli C.C. in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Later he moved to Houston, Texas, where he worked as a sales representative for MacGregor Golf Company for 11 years. Later he worked at Cinco Ranch, Greatwood and Quail Valley C.C. all in the Houston area. He returned to San Antonio in 1999 to help open Olympia Hills and joined the staff at Woodlake in May of 2006. He has won 8 Senior mini tour events around south Texas. His teaching philosophy is very fundamental and simple. He likes to stress good grip, proper posture and alignment. He likes to tailor his technique to the needs of the student rather than prescribing to just one method. He will encourage students in the use of teaching aids and drills to propel the students learning curve. He uses the V1 Professional Coaching Video System with advanced technology to assist students in improving their golf swings. If a picture is worth a 1000 words then this video lesson is well worth the time and effort.
